Salmonberry was born from the need for beautiful, engaging teaching tools for Indigenous health and food sovereignty, and a way to get those materials out to Tribal communities, schools, and the general public. We are a publishing and distribution hub that ensures a stable home for these important resources, and encourages the creation and sharing of more resources like them.

Salmonberry is run by Annie Brulé, Chatwin Books cofounder, who has worked with Indigenous communities throughout the Salish Sea for over a decade, alongside Tribal educators and as part of organizations and institutions including the Northwest Indian College (Lummi campus) and GRuB (Garden Raised Bounty) in Olympia WA. Annie is a member of the Tend, Gather & Grow curriculum development team, and serves as identity designer for this and other curricula including Plant Teachings for Growing Social-Emotional Skills. Also a botanical illustrator and educator, she is always looking for new ways to bring plants and people into closer relationship, and cultural ecological understandings into the public view.

We welcome new partnerships with Indigenous authors and those who are serving Tribal communities. Please reach out if you are interested in working with us to print and distribute work that aligns with our vision: info@chatwinbooks.com. We also welcome interest from Indigenous folks who may wish to enter the publishing field—please reach out about internships, mentorships, and any other questions or curiosity. We would love to hear from you.

We offer a volume discount to Tribal entities and educational organizations.
