NEW RELEASE
We are excited to announce Barnacle Editions first publication, Kúndlaan, The Wolf Pup with Moonlight in Her Eyes.
This beautiful book, written and illustrated by Indigenous artist Sondra Segundo, tells the story of a wolf pup who travels to the moon!
Kúndlaan is first of three children’s books in a series that celebrates Haida culture and language. Inspired by ancient Haida stories, each original tale in the series weaves in Haida language and song to help encourage the revitalization of Indigenous culture.

Stories can be a catalyst for connection.
At Barnacle Editions, not only do we want our books to feel like the beginning of a great conversation — we want our books to be the beginning of a great conversation.
With that in mind, our mission is twofold.
First: Publish books that are so captivating, kids don’t want to put them down.
Second: Create meaningful experiences around those books that help children discover threads of connection with others.
This means publishing amazing books while simultaneously working at a local level to create events and experiences for readers to dive even further into the world of a story. We are on a mission to get our authors and illustrators in front of kids as often as possible, leading engaging discussions and activities that go along with their books!
For Authors
We publish books for middle-grade and a little beyond (ages 6-14).
Fiction. Non-Fiction. Graphic Novels. There is a place for all of it at Barnacle Editions.
We work with authors and illustrators who are just as committed to the books they create as they are to sharing them with readers.
We value books that weave in historical elements, social themes, environmental topics, and cultural diversity. We welcome books that are created by or address historically underrepresented communities.
Successful marketing is the result of a meaningful relationship between house and author. We work with our authors to identify opportunities for them to connect with their audience, then, we help organize events; promoting book sales and increasing brand awareness.
This process looks different for everyone. Interested? Let’s chat.
For Parents & Educators
We think developing resources for educators is great! That’s why, in addition to providing standard classroom reading guides, we are on a mission to get our authors and illustrators in front of kids as often as possible, leading engaging discussions and activities that go along with their books!
You learn by doing. You don’t learn by thinking about doing.
